Curriculum Vitae Raffaella Galdi
I am Italian, (Genoa, 1973), based in Berlin. I am a teacher, previously a choreographer and dancer. I regularly teach at the DANCEWORKS berlin school, responsible for the education in contemporary dance, improvisation, dance composition and repertoire.
Teaching (from 2009 on going)
Always true to an ongoing process of maturation, my dance pedagogic approach finds its base in three principles: the body-mind connection, the use of the bone structure and its alignment, the relationship of the body to gravity. It encourages to discover the body as an instrument and to deflect from habitual movement pathways. My role as an educator is to coach, guide, assist via suggestions, assignments, exercises and to share and pass on my knowledge.

Choreographing and Research Projects
Dance functions as a base and bridges to sound, words, plastic-visual art, employing an inter-disciplinary approach. Research projects are characterised by periods of exploration in which I research thoroughly on a choreographic idea for weeks, months or years. Some research periods give shape to several productions, others just stay a research phase in itself. I have been based as “choreographer in residency” in artblau Tanzwerkstatt Braunschweig from 2006 till 2013.

“Now I am going to reveal to you something which is very pure, a totally white thought. It is always in my heart; it blooms at each of my steps... The Dance is love, it is only love, it alone, and that is enough... I, then, it is amorously that I dance: to poems, to music but now I would like to no longer dance to anything but the rhythm of my soul.” (Isadora Duncan)
